
Aim
- To open up the education centre to the community
- To provide accessible and affordable activities at the centre designed to involve and include community members of all ages
- To act as a centre for integration and inclusion
Rationale
- Opening up the centre as medium for involvement ensures the community feel integrated into the centre and its activities
- The centre is viewed as a community focused centre thus making the community feel welcome and a part of its aims and objectives
- The community also get an opportunity to socialize together and mix with international volunteers sharing experiences and ideas
Actions needed
- Conduct a Saturday Kid’s club designed to involve the children of the community in child focused activities including drawing, reading and watching educational cartoons
- Provide a ‘Film night’ at the centre designed to provide an entertainment outlet at a cost effective price for the local community members
- Open up the ICT room to those who have completed an ICT course with the AEC in order to further practice their skills
Timescale
- Kid’s club to be held every Saturday during the year
- Film night to be held on the last Thursday of every month
- ICT access to be available every Saturday
Evaluation
- Children and adults are accessing the centre and are partaking in the activities and entertainment designed to include them in the centre
- The community does not feel alienated from the centre and feel a sense of ownership in relation to the activities conducted
